curated by Stefano Cecchetto
Venice, Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo
15th November 2019 – 31st October 2020
open daily 10.00 – 18.00

On Friday 15th November, despite the huge difficulties caused by the exceptional high tide of 12th November and its consequent damages, Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo opened its exhibition rooms to celebrate the 90th birthday of the artist Ezio Gribaudo with a new exhibition.

The exhibition, curated by Stefano Cecchetto, is an itinerary of the places that have most characterised the professional career of the artist: Turin, Venice, New York.

Turin, the artist’s hometown, is the place where Gribaudo trained and also started his career as a publisher and then painter; currently, the city is also the seat of his studio.
His steps in Venice are retraced: his participation at Biennale in 1966, where he obtained the graphic award and the professional relationship with Peggy Guggenheim, the exhibitions with Carlo Cardazzo at Galleria del Cavallino, and the show at Ca’ Pesaro in 1971.
Finally, New York witnesses Gribaudo and Lucio Fontana’s friendship, which culminated in the 1961 journey for the presentation of the book Devenir de Fontana, curated by Tapié and made by Gribaudo in occasion of Fontana’s exhibition at The Martha Jackson Gallery in New York.

The exhibition features selected works paintings, documents and pictures that retrace the career of this eclectic figure beside the artworks of the artists that Gribaudo met during those fecund decades.
